Remembering Yolanda Williams

A week ago today, one of our most beloved members of The Mount, went home to be with the Lord.  It was a very difficult day due -- in part -- to our love and care for Yolanda Williams.  She was a tremendous member of the body of Christ, whom the Lord allowed us to have the privilege to Pastor.

I am extremely thankful to God for allowing us to know our beloved Sister and member.  We will always remember Yolanda for her great faith in the LORD despite her battle with cancer.  She will be remembered as a courageous soldier in the Lord's army.

Word Fest has been an awesome conference. Every presenter has done as outstanding job.

Mount Zion Graduation Luncheon 2008

 

The following pictures were taken during our Graduation Luncheon held at the Black Bear Diner in Oakley, CA.  We award three $1,000.00 Scholarships to the following persons:  Left to right, Amandria Banks, who will be attending Cal State University East Bay.  Christy Payton, who will be attending St. John's University in New York and Cuyler Cooper (Not pictured) who will be attending Fresno State University in Fresno, CA.

We are extremely proud of each of our receipants who have been awared these scholarships. 

We also recognized the accomplishment of all of our young people who have been promoted to their next grade levels.

A Word From The Mount - PODCAST

I'm happy to announce that we've finally restored our Apple i-tunes podcast.  Some of you may have attempted to download podcast in the past, but were unsuccessful.  I've finally figured out the technical difficulty. 

There are two ways to download sermons.  You can go to i-tunes and select podcast and then type Mount Zion Baptist Church which should link you to the podcast sermons.  The other way is simply to click on the following link: MOUNT ZION PODCAST.

If you have an iPod or an iPhone, you can now load some of our messages and lesson onto your itunes devise.

I will be uploading our present Boot Camp audio lessons as well as our recent sermon series on "Ministering To & Through The Whole Man."

Preaching Is My Business - WORD FEST 08

On next Monday, July 28th, I will be traveling to Houston, TX for Word Fest Conference 08.  Host Dr. R.A. Williams Jr.  Word Fest is an extension of WHW Conference held each year in Los Angeles, CA. 

I will be teaching on the following subjects:  The Role of the Pastor's Wife and Pastoral Compensation.  On Wednesday, July 30th, I'll be preaching during the evening session of the conference.  I ask for your prayers as we share during this week of teaching and preaching.

Left Behind II - The Movie

On last night during our regular Monday Night Biblical Studies and Youth Ministry, we gather in the sanctuary for the second part on the movie "Left Behind."

After the movie one of the young men present prayed to receive Christ. To God be the glory. It has been especially exciting to see many of the children, youth and young adults of The Mount express their interest in such an important subject.

It has been our intent to make clear that our purpose for studying End Time events is simply to challenge the Body of Christ to see the urgency of outreach and evangelism in a fast changing world.

FNCD Association - Dr. Ishmael Kimbrough, Moderator

On last night during the 19th Annual Session of the First Northern-Central District Association, Rev. Ishmael Kimbrough, Moderator was conferred with a Doctor of Humane Service Degree by the Faith Evangelical Seminary of Tacoma, WA. By the President Dr. Michael Adams.

It was a very moving event. I want to congradulate Dr. Kimbrough on this tremendous accomplishment.
